Boom Boom Clap, Boom Dee Clap Dee Clap

I realized I haven't blogged in forever!

JeffJeff's gotten me obsessed with a bunch of things lately. First, he started playing Gunbound, so then I wanted to play Gunbound too. And then Peter installed Gunbound yesterday! It's so fun. Each player gets a mobile and they take turns shooting their opponents on a playing stage. Each mobile has a unique attack, and there's wind variables you have to take into account.

I used to play GB so much back in middle school. My favorite mobile is Boomer. It's pretty hard to play it because it's so vulnerable and susceptible to wind, but I think it's a cool mobile. You can make a lot of neat high angle shots once you get used to it.

The other thing he got me obsessed with is Miley Cyrus's Hoedown Throwdown. I know - what the crap. ahaha. The first time he showed me, I was like what the heck is this. I thought the song was pretty stupid. And then I started watching it over and over. HAHA, now it's stuck on me and I'm actually learning the dance.

I have a really hard time learning from videos because my L/R sense of orientation doesn't work very well. But I'm getting there! It'll be exciting when we can all do it up to speed. lmfao

Good cookies

It's sad how insecurities and jealousy can eat you up sometimes.

But it's nice how a good cookie offer can help make things one step better :)

MMIAF

Jeff's been bothering me about blogging. Psh. haha. I didn't really want to post past midnight, but since I'm staying up with Drew and Peter while Drew studies his ass off for his midterm and homework, what the hey.

Anyhow! My submission to mymomisafob.com was posted. Nitt caught it the other day. haha For those of you who don't know, mmiaf is a collection of the random cutesy fobby things that your Asian mom does. The alternative is mydadisafob.com which is equally awesome.

Vanilla Pistachio Cupcakes!

I made cupcakes today! It was fun. I think they're my first batch ever. And from scratch! And vegan! I bought this book 2 years ago because I was enticed by the decorative status of these cupcakes. I haven't had a chance to try any of the recipes until today :D

The recipe I followed was for Rosewater Pistachio Cupcakes, but I couldn't find any rosewater, so I made Vanilla Pistachio Cupcakes instead! haha I was careful not to mess anything else up, so it took me a pretty long time to get things finished. My oven was being a poop - it didn't preheat as high as it should've. Good thing I had an oven thermometer inside!

Cupcakes cooling on the rack

Army of cupcakes! Out of the pan and ready to be frosted.

My frosting kinda failed. I was going to make some nice swirly stuff to top off the cupcakes, but it was too liquidy so it kinda just drooped on my cupcakes. I added more powdered sugar to thicken it. It helped but not good enough, so I decided to fully frost half and single drop the others. And then I topped it off with some crushed pistachios. Mmm.

Frosted and waiting to be eaten

They tasted pretty good. Really moist and not too sweet. You can't really tell that they're vegan, or I can't at least. Baking is fun. I wanna make more! Vegan cupcakes are win :)

Sexy Love: Out of Business?

I sent these chocolate roses home on Wednesday to my mom, grandma, and cousin. My mom just called to tell me that they got it. Just in time :) It took me forever to draw my mom. I don't think I drew her properly still. lmfao Oh well xD

She asked me if I was celebrating Valentine's Day tomorrow, and I laughed and said no. She said (translated from Hokkien), "What's wrong? No girls sending you flowers? Is love out of business?" ahahaha. Asian moms.

Bus + Adventure! Busventure!

View from my bus stop. Not quite the angle I wanted, but whatever! haha

(I think this is the first time I'm posting a blog that's before midnight ;D)

After Peter and Drew left to go home to LA, I decided to go on a bus adventure to Target. I wanted to get baking stuff so that I could take advantage of this 3-day weekend and finally try something out of my cupcakes book. I was excited - I haven't been on bus adventures in a while. I even used my iPod!

I got a bunch of stuff at Target. I love Target. I usually overspend here, and I sure enough did this time around. I basically had to shop from scratch because I don't really have any baking tools. While I was there, I bought this pair of boxers cuz they were really cool-looking. Don't you agree?! YEEEE.

Happy boxers! Fishies with silly faces!

Something happened to me at Target. I had my cart of stuff, and I parked it on the side of an aisle while I looked at trash cans in another aisle. I was only looking for a few minutes, but when I came back to my cart, it was gone! I walked back and forth, but I still couldn't find it.

I thought, Wow, Target people are really efficient at taking abandoned carts for restocking... So I was like ugh, have to go back and get everything I picked out. Good thing it wasn't a lot, so it was quick. When I got back to the kitchen section, I saw my pile of stuff on the side shelves! What the crap! I'm pretty sure I knew who stole my cart - this 40ish mom-looking Asian woman. That blank of a woman. haha

It's okay. I ended up using my trashcan as my shopping basket, and it was really useful. My adventure didn't end on the bus - Honyin came to pick me up with E.T. cuz Drew told her I went to Target by myself via the bus. haha Thanks! Fun times.

An Extended Weekend

Ever since Thursday night, the rest of the week has just been an extended weekend. I didn't go to class on Friday, and I even skipped out on Kiwanis Takeover because I just didn't feel like doing anything.

But I have some of the bestest friends here in San Diego. Peter and Drew came to "kidnap" me from my apartment for lunch. The original plan was to go get Pho, but we got attracted to the big sign that said Soup Plantation. Peter doesn't really like to eat there, but even he gave in for lunch. haha. I had a fat lunch. Drew stood in front of me in the line, and he ended up paying for my share. (It's okay because I sneakily paid for his lunch on Saturday when he left his wallet in the car, and I told him I'd cover for him.)

I spent the rest of Friday at home, doing laundry and watching TV with Jeff. We were both extremely bored. We ended up watching a series of mommy shows like WifeSwap and SuperNanny, as terrible as they were. haha. There just wasn't anything good on TV! Drew picked me up to go hang out at Peter's, where the night had interesting twists and turns. But it ended well and we all got a good night's rest.

On Saturday, Honyin, Peter, Drew, and I ventured out to get some PHO. We tried a new place on Balboa called Phuong Trang instead of our regular pho place. It wasn't raining when we left, but when we got to the parking lot, it started POURING. Good thing we couldn't find a spot until the rain stopped :D The food was okay. I think we were too hungry to really notice anything. Besides, it's not like we're pho experts. haha

I spent the rest of the afternoon making chocolate roses with Honyin and Drew at Angie's apartment on campus. We made so many T____T But it was fun. Apparently, according to Angie, I'm good at making things look pretty - I don't know how to take that. haha

We all left around 5:30 to head over to Angela's hot pot party! She read about my broken umbrella, so she bought me a new one! Thanks! There was a lot of food. A whole lot for $5 per person. I went back to my place early for the rest of the night to work on stuff. I don't remember what else I did but watch TV. Maybe wrote some essays for awards. But so much TV watching this weekend! I guess it's because Darin went home to Visalia, or otherwise, he'd be on the TV most of the time.

And today was just whatever. Woke up, got some work done, had lunch with Peter/Drew, etc etc. Darin called me on Saturday night and told me that he left his car key on his desk, and asked if I could still pick him up from the airport. I was surprised because he decided to trust me with his car even though I just had that accident. It was a good feeling.

For most of the weekend, I've had good feelings despite the status of my car. The only times I drifted into an emo state was when I was bound to my home watching TV and when I went to bed at night. That's pretty good. I'm glad that I have such great friends who are both nearby and far away. No matter the distance, they've all helped me cope and made my weekend a lot better than it probably would've been. Thanks guys.

A Day of Ghetto

Yesterday was just a day of ghetto. Like Sean Kingston's Ghetto Girl.

Ghetto #1: My roommate Justin and I woke up to no water. It turned out, plumbing services was here to fix a problem with the spa/pool and the main pipes would be affected - from 9 AM to 1 PM. Yaaaay. No shower. No water. I had to go pee, so I took the risk. Then there was water! So I took the quickest shower of my life. Less than 5 minutes total.

Ghetto #2: What worried me more was the status of the pool. The pool that I swim in. And is now closed because of regulations. LOL. I knew the spa was closed off. Maybe they just had to close the pool too to work on the spa.

Ghetto #3: I forgot to staple my ESYS homework (which I didn't do the questions right anyway). So I folded the top down. I hope it's okay haha

Ghetto #4: I used my umbrella for the first time ever since I've been to college! I just found it in the trunk of my car last quarter. But as I was putting my stuff away for my POLI midterm, I broke my umbrella after its short lifespan. ahahaha. The end just... popped up and broke. The piece rolled down the lecture hall under the seats, so I was just like, ah, whatever. haha Broken umbrella. But I pwned that midterm, more or less. I hope.

Ghetto #5: Probably the biggest one of the day. I idiotically got into a car accident on the way to the food bank. I was so excited to go there because I had just finished my midterm. But when it's rainy and dark, crap happens. God damn ghetto crap. lol

It was a side impact on the driver's side. Everyone's okay. I should be thankful for that. There were three other passengers in my car. I am so glad that nothing happened to them. They were such good moral support. I'm thankful.

This is my car now. It's beautiful. I actually drove it home in this state. haha This is also the second car that I've managed to ruin. First one was senior year HS after prom. I'm a terrible accident-prone driver. Sigh. No more car for me, I guess.

I spent the night at Peter's along with Drew, Honyin, and Alan. I didn't feel like staying home because I'd just be emo in my room, and I'd look out the window and be reminded of my sad car. Sadness. I spent the night doing various things to keep me pre-occuppied. I watched 2 episodes of The Office, then 30 Rock, and The Big Bang Theory. I even podcasted a lecture. Shared late-night Roberto's with Drew. Then after a bit, we all went to bed.

I woke up to sadness because I had to go home and deal with what I have to deal with. But that's okay. The good things that came out of it - no one was hurt. And my credit card bill will probably be drastically curbed as a result of my state of no car :D Yay for optimism.

Tuesdays aren't pretty, but this one turned out okay

Tuesdays and Thursdays are my worst days for classes, but I hate Tuesdays the most because I have 1 extra class on Tuesdays than on Thursdays. What's worse is that my 2 most boring classes are back to back - ESYS 102 (Fluid/Solid Earth) and POLI 160AA (Intro to Policy Analysis). And on Tuesdays, I have section for my ESYS class an hour before the lecture!

Today, I decided to skip my ESYS lecture. Good choice. Because when I went to my POLI class - a lot of the same people are in both because we need it for our major - everyone was saying how they just fell asleep instantly. The class is team taught by 3 professors - we just got through the first one, and she was already boring. The one right now is just bad. hahaha. His lectures are rapid fire and his voice is dull. No powerpoints. Straight up talking and board writing and occassional diagram projected on screen.

And even better! My POLI class was a review session today by our TAs. My roommate Justin left half an hour into class. I stayed back and copied some notes, while playing WordMole on my Blackberry. Then I got up and left too, so I caught the earlier bus and got home early! :D

But in fun news, today was the first day of Assassins. People are ridiculously paranoid - it's really funny. The safety today was a cardboard sign that showed their love for Circle K. Most people did it since it was so easy, but SOME people *Stefanie* were too confident about their luck. haha Tomorrow's safety involves toilet paper around their foreheads. I wonder how many people will be sporting that.

I brought lunch to school today. I've been trying to curb my credit card bill by spending less on buying outside food. I had sandwiches for the first 2 weeks or something. I got a little tired of them because I had them every day. Last night, I got home pretty late, but I decided to stay up to cook since my roommate was still up anyway (he was playing WoW - rofl). I cooked a box of Mac and Cheese, and threw in some hot dogs. It's really good!

Honyin used up my last text today. I'm out of texts until the 4th! Crap. haha. AND THEN, one of my friends texted me just now. So now I'm over by 1! I was so close. haha Maybe I'll ask my dad to upgrade my texting plan.

Another Sunny Day Beneath the Cloudless Sky

Today was the first time I walked out of a bio midterm feeling confident about it. It's a good feeling. I got most of the points down (I hope). I missed a couple of things, like... writing "amnesia-resistant memory" instead of "anesthesia-resistant memory" haha, but it's alright. We'll see how it all goes down.

It was such a warm and sunny day outside - made me happy. I was gonna go swimming since it's such a nice day and I had some time to kill. I changed into my swim trunks and all. And then I got lazy. LOL, very bad. Peter, Drew, and Honyin go to the gym on MWFs at 8 in the morning. They have to wake up so early to get to campus! I used to go with them last quarter and when I lived on campus, but I can barely wake up by 8 nowadays!

I think they're sad that I don't go with them anymore. (I chose 11 AM classes for a reason! :P) So instead of the gym, I go swimming instead occasionally. Even though I really didn't learn how to swim less than a year ago, I like it. I still stay in water less than 5 feet deep though - can't tread water yet, haha. (My pool is small, but it goes as deep as 8 ft! Scary incline.)

The rest of my day was mainly Circle K - dinner, meeting, after-social at Yogurt World, paperwork, etc. I drafted 42 emails for Assassins, with each person's target in each email. That took a really long time. :( I'm gonna send them in about 30 minutes, and the paranoia will begin! :D I hope the game goes well. I'm excited to read kill stories and strategies! Kill on!

Jeff says that he hates my current layout because it's so generic and everyone uses it. LOL I'm only using it now because I like the column widths! I'll find a good template later somehow. haha

Night Owl Beginning!

It's 2:30 in the morning, and I'm up creating my blog. Haha.

Jeff and Alex started writing blogs again - Benjamin Button-inspired - and they convinced me to start one too. So, here I am, post-midterm studying and not sleeping! I'm evolving (to night-owl) according to Jeff because I'm up so late and still not tired. haha

I spent the bulk of my day studying for my BIEB 166 (Animal Communication and Behavior) midterm that's on Monday. I had a dream that I was 30 minutes late to it! It was a panicky wake-up. I went to campus for the review session at 11. The weather was sunny, so I thought it would be warm! But when I got to campus, it was so chilly that I got fripples walking to Pepper Canyon from Gilman! D:

It warmed up over the course of the day - it was such a nice day for a swim, but I spent my day inside my room making/studying these note cards because I really want to ACE this class. My past experience with bio classes weren't that great even though I really enjoyed the material. I guess I didn't know how to study well for them! I think I got it down this time.

I handled some Circle K business when I got tired. First, I finalized the Assassins kill circle - it was so exciting choosing names out of the paper bag to see who'd be killing who. (The post-its have names on the other side - I put them nameside-down so that no one would know who's playing just yet.) I'm excited. There are 41 people signed up!

Next, all of the board members exchange these notebooks every other week to write in as a way to get to know each other better. Stefanie gets these questions from a speed dating website. This week's question was, If aliens came and chose you to go back with them, would you? I said no. hahaha, but whoever says yes must be adventurous! I had Leslie's (she was one of the people who said yes), and I drew stuff on it for fun.

After the (very quick) board meeting, I put myself in Geisel at 8 PM. It was so early! I felt like it was 10 outside. At first, the only dinner I planned to have was 3 Cuties and a banana - haha. No, just kidding. I was planning to go get real food after some studying. Stefanie and Chunky Monkey were going to TapEx, so I followed them. Delicious fried tofu! Sooo good. And soft.

We went back, and I studied the rest of the night - albeit very slowly. haha I didn't do a practice midterm until 1am! haha, but I think I'm pretty ready for the real midterm - I got most of the questions right on my first try. I hope I don't blank out.

I stayed at the library even though I was finished studying because I was too lazy to go home just yet. But then at 1:50 AM, the lights turned off! (except for a couple) and so I packed up to go home. And this is where I am now! Jeff and Alex are wondering why I'm up. Now they'll find out!
