Flight Home

For some reason, everyone from UCSD decided to fly home today. At the same time. Haha, probably because the prices were cheapest during the noon-time hours. And then some people's flights were delayed. But holy crap, there were so many people we knew at the airport!

It's always fun when you sit next to someone who talks to you on the plane. I was planning to read Plan B 3.0 to get started on next quarter's readings (lmfao), but I would've probably fallen asleep out of tiredness anyway. The guy was a 2nd Year Int'l Studies/Poli-Sci Warren student named Bryant ("like Kobe Bryant") who just got evicted from his on-campus apartment for a drinking violation. (Sucky Resident Dean!) But we ran into conversations about all sorts of random life/academic stuff, like our majors, interracial girlfriends, Ethnic Studies, profesors, education systems, etc. lolol, so nerdy, but this guy was "dope." (He used that word a lot.)

While talking about internships and such, I found out that he's running for AS All-Campus Senator with Student Voice. We started talking about that since I knew a couple of people on that slate. I brought up my former housemate Daniel, who was running for AS Physical Sciences Senator with Student Voice also. I told Bryant about all the great freegan progressive adventures Daniel has had, and that he should talk to him more about it cuz he seemed really interested. Hooray for connecting people. haha

He started falling asleep after we landed. At one point, I saw a drip of drool. ahahaha I woke him up as we were de-planing.

Anyway, so I got home. Usual greeting/feeding routine, etc. I went to my room and found a surprise there! Two, actually, from my (cool) cousin Tien who's working in Shanghai as an interior architect. She got me name stamps, with cartoony stuff on it. ahaha, I like them a lot! She even made them for two names! Jotan and Dante. ahaha I don't really know what I'd use them for, but what coolness :)

Why do we fall, sir?

So that we might learn to pick ourselves up again.

Cluttered Mind

With the end of Winter Quarter Finals, I found that I still have a lot of things on my mind. Maybe this is why it doesn't feel like I'm done with finals?

Friendship failures. Recurring theme of my life? Maybe I should just hermit up forever.

Mega Nervousness

Today is the last day of finals for me. I got ready for my death by "dressing up." lolol I have 2 lined up - BIEB 150 and ESYS. I'm so nervous. I just want it to be over! I'm glad 150 (Evolution) comes first. I'm excited/prepared to see what'll be on the final, but I'm scared at the same time. Ah!

Then comes ESYS. I don't really give a crap about ESYS. Haha. How sad. I think the final will be annoying/hard. But good thing I blogged because I was about to forget to bring my ESYS homework. Good luck to me!

Study Break Blog!

I'm tired of studying. I've been studying for the whole weekend, and it's only been for one class! :( So I'm taking a study break to blog haha These are a bunch of pictures I took over the past week that I haven't uploaded.

I drew these in the library last weekend. Peter was going insane cuz he had so much to do. Drew and I were just chillaxing studying. And Honyin. Well, Honyin was dreaming and drooling.

This was a comic from The Guardian from Thursday.
This is totally my music selection. lmfao

I saw this etched on the cement block while I was waiting for the bus at school. So I snapped a quick picture with my phone. I don't really know what it's saying - "Biar"? - but I thought it looked cool. haha

Last Lectures!

The last lectures of 10th week are always something. There's that sense of relief that the class is finally over, but there's also the sense of sadness that soon you won't be going to lectures to expect the mannerisms that you've gotten used to with your current professors. I'll miss them for sure.

But there are really only 2 professors I want to clap for this quarter - 2 out of 6, that is. How sad, haha. But the 2 professors are really good teachers. James Nieh, for my Animal Behavior/Communication class. And Lin Chao for my Evolution class. They each structure their classes so well that each lecture is like a story. I hope they actually feel good when we give our final applause.

I've clapped for 1 of 2 so far. The other one is tomorrow, but I haven't been to class ever since the 2nd midterm - I don't know if I'll actually go tomorrow. lolol, maybe I'll clap at home when I listen to the Podcast. The other professors - well, they just get pity claps > < Sad but true. haha

In other news! Assassins for Circle K finally ended today. ZOMG. It really did take the entire quarter. But I'm glad I didn't have to hunt anyone down for it to end :)

Number 3!

Wow, I'm on a roll with blogging today. Here's the detailed-ish update to my quickie post earlier today. The only thing I really had details for was the haircut I got yesterday.

So, I walked over to Great Clips while Peter/Drew/Honyin went grocery shopping at Henry's. I didn't realize that Great Clips was a chain! Like Super Cuts! Oh no. I got a little scared. I didn't have very good experiences with Super Cuts because most of the hair cutters there are just amateur bums looking for experience. Great Clips is just the same, more or less.

Drew told me earlier to ask for Angela, who was this nice black lady who apparently knows her stuff. I was too scared to ask, but a black lady came anyway and took my information. But her name was Bridget. Oh well. haha. She took a while to get set up - I guess she just got in not too long ago, and she wasn't expecting to cut hair today?

Anyway, once she got started, she took foreverrrrrrrrrrr to do a "fade" on my sides. I had no idea what she was doing. It was like she was coloring in my hair with the buzzer. She went over it so many times, with varying clips. Another guy came in, and the other lady finished his cut in like 1/4th the time it took to do mine.

But I kept a smile on anyway, hoped for the best. haha, it didn't turn out bad, I guess. Looks normal, but I don't know if I'd want to go back. It's $14 for a regular cut. I had a $5 coupon, but I can consistenly get $9 cuts from my Asian place. Those only take 15 minutes. haha

HIMYM Adventure

Today had a kind of a How I Met Your Mother moment. I just had a short meeting with ResLife about my tour tomorrow for Scholar's Day, so I was just heading to Library Walk to chill until class. It was such a nice day out. I found Honeylyn, Zenas, and Helen sitting on one of the blocks too! So we all just hung out, gathering more and more people. People came and left. I left to turn in my homework, and then I came back to hang out. (Hey, can't turn down a hang out on such a nice day!)

Honeylyn noticed this Morning Glory pencil case that someone dropped on the grass by our block and picked it up. She opened it, and found that there was a USB drive inside, so she gave it to me and told me that it could be my soul mate. haha Curious to find out who it belonged to, we opened one of the files - it turned out to be a grad student TA. I looked her up on facebook to see if she had any contact information. And to see what she looked like (not bad, not bad). But we found a cell phone number!

My person was already on her way home to Hillcrest, so she was wondering if I could drop it off with her friend who worked at the Mandeville coffee cart. She described him as a tall Asian guy. So what turned out to meeting my possible "soul mate" quickly became a search for Honeylyn/Zenas/Leslie's soul mate. haha.

Too bad that by the time we got there and returned the pencil case, none of us found our soul mates. haha We found the guy, but he wasn't good enough for them. Oh well, at least the TA would get her USB drive back! She had some important documents in there, including her dissertation research. haha

A Quickie

I got some time to kill before class :) I'll update in detail later, I promise!

1. I got a haircut at Great Clips. Yay for short hair.

2. I like how a nice jacket can make you look that much better. You can wear the most random shirt, put on a nice jacket, and it'd be better looking. hahaha I'm gonna miss that about wintry weather, as "wintry" as SD gets :)
